Best weekend ever!

So, this is how happy i was to finally be in some real snow! Excuse the weird looking smile, i have Bell’s Palsy. My favouritest person in the world, Mr Mechanic, and some of his family and I went on a trip up to their cottage in the Highlands in a small seaside hamlet called Opinan near Gairloch.  It’s on the west coast of Scotland, which is one of my favourite places (up north anyway, not down here.) The weekend just so happened to go over Valentine’s Day so it also meant i had the best V Day ever too!

This is the beach at Opinan which is just a stroll down from the cottage and a lovely place to have a short walk.  On Friday Mr Mechanic also took me out for dinner to the Badachro Inn which is just lovely.  We ate by the log fire while dogs lay at our feet and locals chatted in the pub, my favourite kind of restaurant.  We also went a long walk in the snow on Friday, which was brilliant as i love snow but it did mean that i was very tired and sore on Saturday.  Thankfully, my boyfriend is the most supportive, understanding person ever, though, and was perfectly happy to snuggle up on the couch all day watching a mixture of movies and the Winter Olympics. (I was rooting for the Jamaican bobsleigh team!)

On Sunday we all went to Loch Maree which is overshadowed by Mr’s favourite mountain, Slioch.  It was a beautiful day and a perfect opportunity to go out on the canoe.  I had such a great time as it is very unusual for me to do so many exciting things in such a short space of time.  I was pretty sleepy and grumpy during the 4 hour drive home on Monday though, and slept pretty much all day Tuesday, but it was definitely worth it.

Outdoor activities have always been my favourite thing and i’ve not been able to do so much since i got ill so this was a really encouraging time for me.  I did have to make a few adaptions such as wearing more layers and gloves to help counteract my Raynaud’s, taking breaks and sitting down every ten minutes or so to help with the dizziness from POTS and saying no even when my heart was screaming yes.

I am so thankful to God for keeping me well enough to enjoy my weekend and for giving me such a wonderful boyfriend and a great second family. I am also forever in awe of his beautiful, majestic creation.

“With all creation i sing praise to the King of kings, You are my Everything and i will adore You”
